Lubricating Agent

In many, if not all cases, probably the most important aid is the selection of a suitable lubricating agent, without which internal stimulation of the prostate is likely to be an unpleasant experience. We generally recommend only water based lubricating agents such as Astroglide, which is also suitable on other occasions. Stains on the sheets or clothing are simply removed by washing in the machine.

Note:

Keep an eye on the label... Should you also wish to use the lubricating agent together with a condom, there is no risk of damaging it as will happen with an oil-based lubricating agent, which will dissolve the latex of the condom.

Another Note:

Lubricating agents are widely available from pharmacies, sex-shops and/or mail order stores. We recommend either Astroglide or the London product (London Lubricating Agent, Scent-free, 200 ml bottle, Art.-No. 679 015, € 10,99).

Vibrator

Appliances that were most likely and primarily developed for women, which should not disturb any male user. As for a male, rectal penetration may take some getting used to (see also: "Precautionary Measures"), you should make sure that you take this fact into account when shopping for one. To our knowledge the vibrator should be slim (max. 2-2,5 cm Ø), not too long (15 cm is more then plenty) and if possible flexible, as rigid vibrators increase the risk of injury.

Note:

Whether you should choose a penis-shaped one is of course at your own discretion, yet we recommend bearing in mind that a more neutral shape may be more suitable from a psychological point of view.

Other Appliances

There is a multitude of appliances available which are sold as "vibrators", that is not what we are talking about in this case. The appliances that we are referring to are those that are normally used for "all-over" massages, usually larger with a flat vibrating surface. Such appliances are available as battery or mains operated versions. Many of them are strapped to the back of the hand with a piece of Velcro. This gives the wearer room to move around as the hands are free to be moved as accustomed to. The ones powered by batteries are of a less powerful vibration, but you are completely free.

Latex Covers for the Fingers

These latex covers, made from the same material as condoms, only much thicker, are available in various designs i.e. pock-marked, ringed or plain. The use of these latex covers has several advantages.

the partners need not worry about possible injuries to the anus from fingernails or callus skin
the "disgust"-factor (contact with bowels) is reduced to a minimum
the risk of disease transmission is almost eliminated
